Like many schools in Christchurch, St Albans is having to watch its budget closely. Reduced role numbers next year as a result of this year’s earthquakes means a drop in available funding. At the same time as funding drops many school costs, such as maintenance, remain consistent.
The St Albans School Board of Trustees recently had to decide between having larger class sizes in 2012 (and spending available funds on IT assets and other resources) or keeping class sizes as small as possible. As their Charter has at its core the delivery of excellence and achievement for their tamariki, the Board made the decision to spend funds on keeping class sizes as small as they can.
