LYFE (Linwood Youth Festival Experience)

LYFE (Linwood Youth Festival Experience) is back bigger and better than ever!  The annual block party returns to Linwood Park, opposite Eastgate on Saturday 17 March from 12 noon to 4pm to celebrate and support local youth.

Making its debut in Christchurch, talented local BMXers will show off their sickest tricks using the AirBag, a supersized, air-filled cushion that provides a soft landing for stunt riders.  What’s more, festival goers will be able to use the AirBag and have a go free falling – a must for all thrill-seekers out there!   Also coming to LYFE for the first time is Pedalmania, Parkour and Ki O Rahi plus the PhotoBooth where you can take photos of yourself and friends and go in to win some awesome prizes, sponsored by Eastgate Shopping Centre.

Music is always a big hit at LYFE and this year will not disappoint.  Reality Chant and MC Silva, Restoration, Merchants of Flow and Mark Vanilau will line up alongside local youth talent and be hosted by MCs from Mai FM and What Now.

Back by popular demand, young people can take part in the Cheapskates Skate Comp, soap and stone carving, hair braiding, urban art demos, tag, football and much more!   All activities are free or have a nominal charge.  To satisfy your hunger needs, bring a picnic or purchase something at reasonable prices from the wide variety of delicious food stalls on site.

“LYFE will bring an awesome day of excitement to the east and with so much entertainment on offer the question will be ‘what do I do first?’ ” says Event Coordinator Amanda Keefe.   A dedicated Crew of young people from Linwood College and Intermediate have been at the heart of putting together this incredible and much loved community event supported by numerous local organisations including Christchurch City Council, Hagley/Ferrymead Community Board and Linwood Resource Centre.  There is something for everybody so bring your friends and whanau but please leave the dog at home.

Visit the LYFE festival website for more information, or contact Amanda Keefe (amanda@lyfe.co.nz or phone 941 8999 or 021 134 0981).
