The transitional community centre now has its certificate of compliance and is fit for public use.
An event hosted by the Christchurch City Council on Monday, September 25 as a followup to discussions in St Albans earlier in the year, is believed to be the first use to be made of the new building under the certificate of compliance, closely followed on Tuesday evening with the Residents Association AGM.
The centre was officially opened a month ago but there was some additional work to be done on the toilets etc before it could be open for use.
The largest of three rooms at the centre has a limitation of 50 so the gatherings will be small. There is a shortage of meeting space for community groups in Christchurch so let it be known that the facility is open for community groups in Christchurch to book for their meetings. A small kitchen alcove means you can bake some scones to go with the tea but will need to bring equipment with you.
