Central Christchurch MP Nicky Wagner made the first stroke at the Edgeware Croquet Club on September 15, marking the opening of the new season and a reopening of the club after quake repairs.
Extensive liquefaction in 2011 caused major damage to the greens so professional lawn patching was required. The historic Club House also sustained damage but on opening day, the whole place looked a picture, Nicky says.
This genteel game is sometimes known as “malice with manners” according to club President, Elizabeth Steel.
