Giving voice to muted Christchurch

A blog and video platform started by a small group of documentary makers wants to hear your views on Christchurch.

As former mayor and St Albans resident, Garry Moore, who features on the Christchurch Voices website, argues the views of Christchurch people and the Christchurch City Council are being overlooked and over run e.g.: the council’s plan for the city built in consultation with its citizens, was overtaken by the male-dominated CERA-appointed 100 day plan group. Democracy and open-ness is being strangled.

“We have interviews on it with community leaders like Glenn Livingstone, Garry Moore, Mike Coleman, Peter Beck, Kiri Hider and John Patterson but also homeowners who have found themselves in a variety of situations, and business people,” says site developer Ngaire Jehle. “In all a lot of issues surrounding the recovery are discussed and we plan to keep adding to the variety of topics.

“We also plan to keep uploading videos and will run seminars for people interested in interviewing using smart phones.”
