Gym owners Les Mills are behind a new produce/artisans market in a Cashel Street carpark on Sunday mornings.
The aim is to bring more life back into the eastern side of the city and to surrounding suburbs. Les Mills is one of the few complexes near the site of the fallen Grand Chancellor Hotel open for business, in the middle of what is fast becoming a wasteland. It’s a wee bit tricky getting there as entrance has to be made via Hereford Street but there is plenty of parking.
Organiser Paul Bacon says that the North and East are not being catered for with weekend markets and the sealed site should appeal to potential traders. They are also offering a different community group a free stall each week and there is talk of free gym passes for anyone who makes a purchase.
This is probably the market closest to St Albans, since the market at English Park closed down some months ago.
