Evans Pass Road reopens to traffic this weekend

Evans Pass Road, which links Sumner and the Summit Road, will open for public use from Sunday, November 4 but if you want a sneak peak get on yer bike on November 3.
The road may be rough and narrow in places because of boulder damage but it will be the first time people have been able to drive over the pass since the tumultuous events of 22 February 2011.

Cyclists get a car free day on the hill road from 8am on November 3. No motor vehicles will be allowed from 8am till midnight. However, they are allowed on the Summit Road.

It looks like the road from the top of the Port Hills to Lyttleton will remain closed for a while longer but the Evans Pass link to the Summit Road should make access to the hills easier.
