CBD red zone virtual tours

You can now take a virtual tour of the inner city red zone from the comfort of your computer.

The images were taken in the first half of 2012 so some buildings have already been demolished. Murray Quartly, who runs Focus360 Virtual Website Tours, has gifted the images to the University’s quake archive under the Creative Commons scheme.

Download files from the quake archive, locate the file called virtualtour.html in the folder and take a 360 degree tour of various inner city locations e.g.: Cathedral Square. The file is interactive so you can to a certain extent zoom in for a close up or take a look at the pavement instead of the sky and so on. The panorama uses a technology called flash or swf file format and may require download of a plug-in to view the images.

Maybe something similar could be done for Edgeware Village.
