The census on March 5 will show marked changes in Christchurch demographics and help determine funding for services such as education, transport and healthcare.
This census, which was meant to have been held in 2011 but delayed by the February 22 earthquake, will count the number of people and households in New Zealand.
Every resident and visitor in New Zealand must take part in this Census. Personal information supplied is confidential and protected by law and will not be shared with any other government agency.
Forms can be filled out online or on paper. Internet Access Codes and paper forms will delivered to your home between Saturday 16 February and Tuesday 5 March.
Information sheets in Asian and Pacific languages, as well as English and Maori are available to download from the Census website or call 0800 236 787 from 11 February.
Collection of paper forms begins on Wednesday 6 March.
