Handling repairs with Fletchers

A former Fletchers employee is giving out advice on how to handle repairs on a blog set up to provide Christchurch residents with an inside view on earthquake information.

If you disagree with the decision of one assessor, ask for a second opinion but at a different hub so you don’t end up with an assessment by the person who sits next to the first assessor.

If opting out is not an option, get the scope of works reviewed by an independent person before work starts. If this person can also oversee the repairs, even better. Get someone to make sure that work is being done to scope and no short cuts are being taken. The property needs to be repaired to proper trade standards.
