Youth action in Papanui

Bored. Nothing to do? Tell that teen in your house to head to Harewood Road on Thursday afternoon where the Papanui Youth Development Trust is running an activities programme for teens.

These sessions cater for secondary school students during the school terms only and run from 2.30pm till 5pm. It is a welcome addition in a city with limited after school options for teens.

Activities include foosball, air hockey and rock climbing as well as a range of hall games. For those wanting a quieter, less active time there are board games and brain teaser games. All activities are free except for rock climbing, which attracts a gold coin charge. There is also a cafe called Sugarush for those who just want to hang out.

The venue at 1 Harewood Road is on the Orbiter bus route so students from Burnside, Linwood or further afield can participate.
