Insulation for those with high health needs

People with high health needs and living in a cold/damp house in Christchurch or Kaiapoi can get help with insulation through the Healthy Homes Project run through Pegasus Health.

Householders need to be registered with a GP and have one person in the household with high health needs. With a community services card the insulation will cost $299; without it $999.

This service is available to people living in rental homes but not Housing New Zealand or city council social housing.

Telephone 0800 488 988 to apply for the insulation but be quick as the scheme finishes near the end of the month.

However, after June 28 enquiries should be directed to Community Energy Action using the referral form at www.cea.co.nz/medical-professionals-social-workers. The Community Energy Action will cater for Housing Corporation or city council housing.
