CERA has just launched a new interactive web-based mapping tool that will help with future planning in Christchurch. It shows land use and zoning, transport routes, and population figures to help with future planning in the region.
This tool brings together data from a range of government agencies, local authorities and various community groups. The mapping information is layered so you can look at specific areas in greater Christchurch and be informed about current and planned facilities and services.
As well as identifying buildings and amenities the technology also allows you to take a close up look at the city as it was on the days following the most devastating 2011 earthquakes.
“It aims to give community groups and organisations easy access to information that will help them plan their own future facilities,” CERA says. “This map will undergo monthly scheduled updates as new and relevant data becomes available, so be sure to continue to keep logging on to see what’s new.”
