Do you have a question about the rebuild?

A new, CERA-sponsored website called In the know has been set up so people can ask moderated questions about the rebuild and the answers are shared online.

The site will not handle questions about specific claims or complaints. The questions, submitted through an online form, will be moderated “to ensure the ongoing quality of information accessed through In the Know. Questions can be asked about the residential rebuild and repair process as it affects or could affect the greater Christchurch community or groups of people within our earthquake-affected community.”

A Think Tank, made up of community leaders who meet regularly, will make sure that the questions are clearly stated before being passed to agencies for a response. Responses are published on the website, and the person who asked the question is notified.

Recovery agencies who will answer the questions include SCIRT, CCC and other councils, CERA, EQC and Insurance companies. The site has the support of a number of community organisations including CanCERN and Tenants’ Protection.

This is similar to the multiple questions lists that have appeared in CanCERN newsletters but the questions and answers stored on this website should reach a wider audience beyond community groups, make it easier to ask questions and the searchable web interface should also make the information more accessible.

The privacy and legal section of the site suggests that the website is being run by CERA as they can revise the terms any time.
