Petition launched for road arrows

Christchurch JP and Labour candidate Tony Milne has launched a petition for CCC to install turning arrows at the corner of Cranford Street and Innes Road.

Following a traffic study in 2012 recommending the installation of the arrows the Shirley Papanui community board supported the plan but a second council traffic study threw doubt on the benefits and it never happened.

“I have been overwhelmed by the number of phone calls and e-mails from people supporting turning arrows and sharing their stories of near misses. We need to put some added pressure on Council to act.”

Tony suggests downloading the petition from his website: http://www.tonymilne.org.nz/turning_arrow ,printing it and asking family/friends/neighbours/church or sports group members to sign it and return it before August 10.

“I will then present it to the Shirley-Papanui community board the following week. I will also be doorknocking in the area and be outside shops asking people to sign it.”
