Residents Assn gifted converted garage

The St Albans Residents Association (SARA) has been kindly gifted a beautifully converted garage by START Healing.

It will be used to house a community co-ordinator and NeighbourNet as well as providing a drop in centre for local residents.

“The building must be removed [from START] by the 19th of November or it will be demolished with the rest of the property, ” SARA co-chair Emma Twaddell says.

The plan is to move the building onto the site at 1047 Colombo Street in the week after Show Weekend, where it will replace an old shed and take up some parking space (parking spaces created when the centre was much bigger than it is currently).

The temporary centre on the Colombo St site will continue to operate until April 2016 when there are plans to move it on elsewhere. SARA is managing this building until then.

Emma is looking for volunteers to handle
1. The Building consent process for the site (property files have been ordered)
2. A plumber and electrician who will volunteer an hour to isolate the services at the removal site
3. Carpenters to remove doors, scribes and brace the building as it is removed
4. Someone to mow long grass
5. People to demolish and remove an old wooden shed.

Please contact Emma on 0272886334 or sara@stalbans.gen.nz to volunteer and for more information
