Visiting all the participating businesses on the Biketoker Passport paid off for one family, with Mum winning a Bailies Voucher and her son winning a Tannery Voucher, which he graciously shared with his sister. Marie Hudson pictured here receiving her voucher from Amy, the manager of Bailies Bar.
Biketober was an event held in Christchurch to promote cycling. It included New Zealand’s first ever bike expo at the Air Force Museum, attended by about 3500 people on the last weekend in October. Can spokesperson Jo Mckay was stoked with the response to the expo.
‘We had very positive comments from exhibitors, many of whom want us to hold it again next year. There was a really good buzz and people enjoyed all aspects of the Expo.’
‘About a quarter of people in Christchurch are on a bike at least once a week,’ she said. ‘Christchurch was the right place to hold our first Expo, and it’s the right time with cycling on the up across all fronts – sport, commuting, competitive cycling and holidaying.’
