Civil Defence has approved a number of cycle initiatives aimed at improving conditions for cyclists and encouraging cycle movement across the city.
Cycle initiatives have been approved for routes to key destinations or linking existing cycle routes across the city and include:
1. Clearway along both sides of Bealey Avenue during peak traffic flow times.
2. Shared cycle/pedestrian path on the north side of St Asaph Street between Durham and Madras streets.
3. Cycle lane extension on both sides of Blenheim Road between Curletts and Main South roads.
4. Repairs to earthquake damaged shared cycle/pedestrian paths through Hagley Park.
