October’s StAN features St Albans strategy and construction noise

St Albans News October 2024 The October 2024 News talks about construction noise in St Albans and contains details of the St Albans Strategy which is being updated after 10 years. This guides the work of the St Albans Residents Association. Click on the right hand image to download the pdf.

Please disregard the paragraph on page 1 in the pdf quoting Innes councillor Pauline Cotter on decibel levels as those figures are incorrect.

St Albans News would like to apologise to Cr Pauline Cotter for misquoting her in the October issue of StAN, when talking about decibels. Although relevant to noise levels in another context the figures/decibels quoted in the article do not apply in this context.

The relevant figures in the table featured on Christchurch construction noise follows national standards gives a better idea of the upper noise limits allowed during residential construction work depending on the day of the week and so on.

The illustration included on Measure noise with a decibel meter shows how harmful high noise levels can be. Levels can be measured with a low cost, handheld digital meter available from a local hardware store.
