Fed up with EQC and don’t agree with what they are telling you? There may be a way to solve this through a free mediation service starting in August.
A mediation service being administered by AMINZ, the short name for the Arbitrators and Mediators Institute of New Zealand. The service will be free to the landowner. AMINZ is a not for profit organization with well- trained mediators and will not be directed by EQC even though the latter is picking up the tab.
The aim is to find solutions when the parties involved hold divergent views on valuations and repair options, for example, and any contract signed will be binding. A new website and help desk will be set up in August. Keep a watch on this space.
