St Albans In CERA News Update

Two items about St Albans: one about the reopening of the Supervalue Supermarket and the other about the wastewater pipes and road works feature in the latest update from CERA.

The item from SCIRT outlines what is being done. In summary:

  1. The old wastewater pipes are being replaced by polyethylene or plastic pipes, which means more flexibility and less breakage
  2. In areas close to streams where lateral spread is a problem the system used will be a low pressure one and not based on gravity and the pipes will be closer to the ground surface for ease of access
  3. There will be more than one pumping station in St Albans to spread the load
  4. Few pipes as possible over areas with rivers and waterways will reduce the risk of damage in those areas.

When work has been completed – it is a long slow process – the rough roads can be resealed.
