Coping With A Drafty House

It is difficult to keep warm in a drofty, quake-damaged house.

Community Energy Action suggests using radiant heaters -don’t try to heat the air to keep warm, installing curtains (CEA offers recycled curtains free) and installing window insulation.

They also have advice on subsidies available for heating and insulation.

If you are leaving a house and can take the curtains with you but they don’t suit your new house consider donating your old curtains to the Curtain Bank.

For more information on where to get help or how to donate curtains visit the Community Energy Action website http://www.cea.co.nz/earthquake
