Struggling to cope financially after the earthquakes? Financial advice offered to red zoners has now been extended to those in the green zone coping with decisions regarding moving, repairs etc.
The Commission for Retirement and Financial Literacy has also produced a useful booklet Understanding Your Financial Situation and Options – after the Canterbury earthquakes, which is available from CERA earthquake hubs and other government agencies and community organisations in Canterbury as well as online at www.sorted.org.nz/canterbury.
Retirement Commissioner Diana Crossan says the free advice is provided by a group of experienced, local professional advisers who are donating their time. “They’re all Authorised Financial Advisers and can provide advice on a range of things from simple term deposits, insurances and mortgages, to other investments and financial planning services.
“The advisers don’t represent the Commission, they are from a number of well-known and reputable organisations and we are delighted to have secured their ongoing support to help a wider group of Canterbury residents. They are not there to sell people products and there is no cost to residents who seek advice.”
Residents can make an appointment to see a financial adviser by contacting the CERA Avondale Earthquake Assistance Centre on 0800 7464 2372 or Kaiapoi Earthquake Hub: 0800 639 000.
