The Young Vinnies Team at Our Lady of Fatima School in Innes Road will be handing out packs of goodies to homeless or disadvantaged people in Cranmer Square on Sunday December 16.
According to teacher Emma O’Connell the Young Vinnies were impressed when they heard about the efforts of Daniel Chung and his family and friends who feed the homeless and disadvantaged each Sunday at Cranmer Square and wanted to do something specially for Christmas.
“The team wrote to Brian at Countdown, The Palms, to see if he could help. Using money from the recent Mission Day Fair held at our School, the Young Vinnies purchased a number of essential items that they thought could make useful gifts. Brian at Countdown gave us a bit of a deal with such items as shampoo, soap, hand sanitizer, deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste, along with a few chocolates.”
The junior school children at the Mairehau-based school each put together a pack of goodies for a homeless or disadvantaged person and made a Christmas card to go with it.
