Abused get help with budget landline

Telecom and the New Zealand Federation of Family Budgeting Services is offering victims of abuse a basic, low cost landline with a police alarm.

Budgetlink lines are a no frills, basic landline, with a full toll bar, costing $24 per month and with no connection fee.

Those that would normally be declined service due to credit risk and history can also get onto the Telecom network through Budgetlink, closely monitored by a Telecom staff member.

In many cases of abuse it is normally the abused whose credit history is tarnished not the abusers. Telecom now works closely with organisations around the country to keep these victims safe.

Users of the Budgetlink line cannot have any Telecom debt at a collection agency and must sign up to a federation budget service.
