He Oranga Pounamu Project leader Sharon Hillier and Alice Kemp are co-ordinating an earthquake support service for local whanau.
By calling 0800 524 8248 or 0800 KAI TAHU, whanau can be linked to earthquake related grants and services through Kaitoko Whānau workers, whose role is to help with EQ whanau recovery. Kaitoko are not experts but will work alongside families and help connect them to the wide range of services available for whanau to make well informed decisions.
They will help collate the necessary information for whanau and decipher EQ technical information and explore solutions to critical situations e.g.
insurance policies, opt out processes, geotech requirements as well as more general help and information about training.
Kaitoko /Navigators are sourced from Te Puawaitanga ki Ōtautahi Trust, Te Runanga o Nga Maata Waka Inc, Whittake Te Ora Hou Otautahi Trust, Positive Directions Trust and Te Kakakura Trust.
