Local MP Nicky Wagner reports that she has been appointed as Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to both Hon Gerry Brownlee, for Earthquake Recovery and to Hon Nick Smith, for Conservation.
“These responsibilities will allow me to advocate even more directly for our city.”
But her appointments are likely to have a global impact as she has also been appointed to the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) committee, which meets in Geneva.
“With my extensive on-the-ground Government experience with the Christchurch and Canterbury rebuild, I believe I have a lot to offer an international disaster reduction strategy forum and it will enable me to bring a broader perspective to our recovery and rebuild.”
