Steve Wakefield – health board candidate

board-photo-steve-wakefieldI have served as Deputy Chair of the Canterbury DHB for the last three years, and would like to be elected to continue this work. I have 35 years of IT and business consulting experience and was previously NZ Chartered Accountant of the Year. I bring significant financial and risk governance skills to the Board, which are vital since we have many challenges, to continue improving our services and delivering more healthcare while living within our funding constraints.

We have continued our earthquake repair and rebuilding programme, and in the last 3 years we have opened new hospital facilities at Burwood, Kaikoura and Rangiora. We have ongoing projects at Akaroa, Ashburton, Hillmorton and Christchurch Hospital. We have also provided increased integrated care in the community, and are investing in many new IT systems to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of health services.
