Consultation on Enduring Power of Attorney

Location: Fern Room, The Atrium, 455 Hagley Avenue
Time: June 18 10am – 12 noon
Description: The Minister for Senior Citizens is holding a public consultation meeting in Christchurch on the topic of enduring power of attorney. In 2008, the laws regarding this power were revised to provide greater protection for the rights of people unable to manage their own affairs.The Minister is looking at how well the changes are working to see if further changes are needed. Public consultation meetings are being held to discuss the online questionnaire. A hard copy can be obtained by phoning 0800 273 674.

Description: Tony Milne has presented his booklet Running and Winning issue-based campaigns across New Zealand and in Australia. He will go through the 10 steps outlined in the booklet and how the framework could be applied to public health issues such as child poverty. Copies of this booklet will be available to take away. Community development centre in Walker Street

A community development centre planned for 24 Walker Street in the inner city will provide resources to encourage citizen-led developments in Christchurch.

The hub has the backing of a number of community organisations and will be open to the public. The complex, with meeting rooms and interview rooms, is expected to open sometime in June.
