Broken pipes close part of school
The discovery of broken sewer pipes under St Albans Primary School resulted in the closure of the library cafe block and adjoining areas on December 2. Stachybotyrs and penicillin spores have been found in air tests.

Emma Twaddell named local hero
Emma Twaddell kept the St Albans Residents Association going through the earthquakes and political fallout in its wake. Her work was rewarded recently when she was one of 15 Christchurch people who was named a Kiwibank Local Hero.

Local hair salon top in NZ
Hair Art and Beauty in Cranford Street can claim to be the top New Zealand salon after winning the New Zealand Salon of the Year award, as part of the Kitomba NZARH Business Awards 2013 held recently in Auckland.
