Building winter resilience

A number of agencies have combined to ensure that people in Canterbury receive assistance over winter.

Anyone ringing CERA or one of the agencies will be put in touch with the appropriate agency. Agencies involved include EQC, insurers, building companies, the Red Cross, the Student Volunteer Army, Community Energy Action, the Canterbury Earthquakes Temporary Accommodation Service (CETAS), the Families Commission, Canterbury District Health Board and the Christchurch City Council. With the co-ordinated approach they are all essentially acting as one.

Initiatives include Red Cross parcels, some of which contain insulation materials. The Canterbury Health Board is also assisting people hospitalised last year to insulate their homes.
