The proposed alcohol policy for the city will see taverns, bars, pubs and clubs in St Albans and other suburban centres closing at 1am. A discretionary one-way door policy may be applied where appropriate.
Offlicences will be able to trade from 9am to 9pm. New bottle stores and taverns will be restricted to business zones.
Part of the inner city, known as the Inner City Entertainment Precinct, will have a 3am closing time.
A draft policy has been drawn up in a bid to minimise alcohol related harm in the city and ensure that the sale and supply of alcohol is undertaken safely and responsibly. The city council is seeking feedback on the policy before July 1.
