Most of Cranford Street is likely to be rezoned business/commercial due to the proposed four laning of part of the street.
The Shirley Papanui Community Board plans to advocate for this zoning change to encourage the development of appropriate commercial premises.
Cranford Street is largely residential at the Edgeware Road end leading to rural and light industrial at the Main North Road end. The Council is planning for four laning of Cranford Street from the northern end as far as Innes Road to link into the North Arterial road and motorway.
The rezoning would cover the area from Bealey Avenue (which means Sherbourne Street as well, as Cranford St finishes at Edgeware Road) to the northern end of the rural section.
However, this plan is in the early stages and council staff have been asked to provide information and guidance.
