City council advises on DIY sandbags for Lusi

If you didn’t manage to pick up sandbags in the Shirley/ Hills Road car park  on Saturday afternoon you could make your own to “welcome” Cyclone Lusi. This city council webpage gives advice on how to make sandbags from plastic bags or hessian bags.

Edgeware Supervalue recalls fruit

If you bought apples or peaches from Edgeware Supermarket between February 27 and March 13, make contact with the supermarket to find out if you need to return the fruit and obtain a refund. Several boxes of fruit (peaches and apples) were among those picked by a Hawkes Bay worker who was later identified as having Hepatitis A.

Labour chooses candidate for electorate

The Labour Party has chosen Tony Milne, a former electorate worker for former MP Tim Barnett, to contest the Christchurch Central seat later this year. Tony, who is in his early 30s, currently works for the Problem Gambling Foundation.
