Carols in Packe Street Park

Location: Packe Street Park
Time: December 8 5-6pm
Description: Heather Gladstone and her friends host the carol singing again this year. Sizzled sausages will be available in exchange for a small donation. If wet the event will be cancelled because an alternative indoor venue cannot be found locally this year.

Spring River Festival – this weekend

image002The festival promises something for all ages and is organised by Avon-Otakaro Network (AvON), the group advocating for the Avon River red zone to become a river park and reserve.

This year the festival will follow the journey of the specially-carved waka huia as it makes its way downstream.

Volunteering Canterbury on move again

Volunteering Canterbury has moved offices to Unit 3, 575 Colombo Street, which is behind the green Hunting and Fishing building, just north of South City Mall. The phone number and email addresses remain the same. They are moving to another temporary premise, along with the rest of the Christchurch Community House, which has been based in a building near the temporary library building in Tuam Street following the February 2011 earthquake. Volunteering Canterbury acts as a kind of matchmaker between community groups looking for volunteer workers and individuals offering their time for free.

St Albans Tennis Club Community Day

Time: November 9 12:00 – 4.30 pm
Description: Courts will be open to the St Albans community with sausage sizzle and lolly scramble for children and social tennis for adults. The first 90 minutes focus on children and adult tennis features from 2-4pm.
