One of the planned cycle routes which radiate out from the city centre like spokes in a wheel, runs right through the heart of St Albans.
However, it is uncertain whether this will be one of the ones chosen to go ahead in the next three years. The project for six routes has been costed at $25 million, which is too much for the City Council to carry at the moment. So three will get the green light while the other three wait until city finances improve.

CERA (and a Government Department with a long name) launched a new website at www.canterburyresidentialrebuild.govt.nz on Monday, February 4, aimed at helping property owners, particularly those in Technical Category 3, navigate the repair/rebuild process.
The content is a bit thin but CERA promises that the site will be updated with a wider range of residential rebuild content over the coming months.
The Women’s Centre in Colombo Street is offering free counselling with qualified counsellors and counsellors who are in the process of being trained.
Up to 20 hours of counselling is possible but spaces are limited.

Stained glass windows made in the 1930s for the church in Edgeware Road are up for sale on Trade Me with a total asking price of nearly $100,000.
The windows were made in 1937 by Bradley Brothers for the Wesleyan Church, later the Egyptian Coptic Church. The Church was demolished after the September 4 2010 quake caused irreparable damage and the windows later came into the hands of Christian demolition company, Graceworks, which is now selling the windows.
