Reel Tour features St Albans home movie

Location: St Michael’s and All Angels Church, 84 Oxford Tce
Date: September 14. Christchurch showings are at 4pm and 7.30 pm
Description: A home movie made at 10 Berry Street in 1910 is one of a number of historical Canterbury films being shown during a Film Archive Tour. The oldest home movie in the Film Archive collection shows the Hinge family enjoying time together in their home and garden. Other historic films from throughout Canterbury (Mt Cook and Bill Hamilton’ jet boat) make up the Reel Tour. Screenings are being organised in seven Historic Places Trust registered heritage buildings. Local historians will introduce each screening and live accompaniment to the silent films will be provided by musicians Jan Preston and Mike Pullman. Door sales only, $5 per seat. The programme of 17 short movies runs for 75 minutes.

Walk/Run 4 Autism Awareness

Location: North Hagley Park
Time: October 20 from 10 am
Description: Autism New Zealand’s Canterbury/West Coast Branch is running its popular Walk/Run 4 Autism Awareness, a non-competitive event for all ages. Participants have a choice of distances: 2.5km, 5km or 10km. The event will be run whatever the conditions, wet or fine. Following the walk/run there is an entertainments area to check out. Christchurch City Council District Plan Review

The Council is seeking feedback on its district plan online and through a series of community meetings.

The District Plan is being reviewed to address immediate and long-term needs. It sets out the provisions governing the use of land including residential and business zoning, transport, natural hazards, development and heritage.
